Sound familiar?

What usually holds Local SEO back

Competitors fill the map pack, you don't

Someone nearby searches for your service and three other businesses appear in Maps, even when you're closer.

An incomplete Business Profile

Wrong category, old hours, few photos and no services listed, so Google has little reason to show you.

Few reviews, or old ones

Happy customers are never asked, so your rating rests on a handful of reviews from years ago.

Guide

Local SEO services in India: a buyer's guide

What local SEO services include

Local SEO services get your business found when people nearby search on Google and Google Maps for what you offer. That means appearing in the map pack, the group of three businesses shown with a map near the top of the results, and ranking in the normal results for searches that include a city, an area or “near me”. A complete service covers six areas:

  • Google Business Profile optimisation: categories, services, hours, photos, description and regular posts, all accurate and complete.
  • Reviews: a routine for asking customers for reviews and replying to every one.
  • Citations: your business name, address and phone number (often called NAP) listed the same way on directories, maps and industry sites.
  • Location pages: a page on your website for each branch or area you serve.
  • Local schema: structured data that tells search engines your business type, address, hours and contact details.
  • Tracking: map rankings across your area, plus calls, direction requests and enquiries.

Google Business Profile is the new name for Google My Business. When an agency offers Google My Business SEO, it means the same profile work.

How Google decides who appears in the map pack

Google ranks local results mainly on three factors it names itself: relevance, distance and prominence.

  • Relevance: how well your profile matches the search. Your categories, services and description do most of the work here.
  • Distance: how far you are from the person searching, or from the place named in the search. You cannot change this, which is why rankings differ from one street to the next.
  • Prominence: how well known and trusted your business is. Google looks at your reviews, links and mentions across the web, and at how your website ranks in normal search results.

This is why checking your ranking from your own office tells you very little. A clinic can sit first for searches made outside its door and not appear at all a couple of kilometres away. Good map pack tracking checks rankings from a grid of points across your city, so you see the whole picture and know which areas need work.

The Google Business Profile optimisation checklist

Google Business Profile optimisation is usually the quickest way to improve local rankings, because the profile is what people see and act on in Maps. Work through this list once, then keep it current.

  1. Business name: use your real-world name exactly as it appears on your signage. Adding keywords or city names breaks Google’s guidelines and can get the profile suspended.
  2. Primary category: choose the most specific category for your main service, then add secondary categories only for services you actually offer.
  3. Address or service area: show your address if customers visit you. If you visit them, hide the address and list the areas you serve.
  4. Hours: keep regular hours accurate and add special hours for festivals and public holidays.
  5. Services and products: list each one with a short, plain description.
  6. Photos: add real photos of your premises, team and work, and keep adding new ones.
  7. Website link: point each profile to the most relevant page, such as the branch page for that location.
  8. Posts: share offers, updates and events so the profile shows recent activity.

Answer the questions customers ask most often on your website too, in a short FAQ on each location page. Clear answers help both searchers and Google understand what you offer.

On your website, LocalBusiness schema repeats your name, address and phone number in a format Google reads easily. You can build it with our free schema markup generator and test it with the schema validator.

How to get more Google reviews the right way

The right way to get more Google reviews is to ask every customer, at the moment they are happiest, with a link that takes them straight to your review form.

Make asking part of the routine. Put a QR code at the counter, add the review link to the WhatsApp message that confirms an appointment or delivery, and remind staff to ask in person. Reply to every review, good or bad, within a few days. A calm, specific reply to a complaint shows future customers how you handle problems.

Avoid the shortcuts. Google’s policies do not allow buying reviews, offering discounts or gifts in exchange for them, or asking only happy customers while steering unhappy ones elsewhere. Google removes reviews that break these rules and can take action against the profile involved.

Two free resources make asking easier: the Google review link generator gives you a direct review link and a printable card, and our guide to the Google reviews QR code shows where to place it. For posters, menus or payment stands, the QR code generator makes any other code you need.

Local SEO for multi-location businesses

Multi-location businesses need one verified Business Profile and one location page for every real branch, with each profile linking to its own page. A chain of clinics or a coaching brand with centres in several cities is running many local campaigns at once, and each one needs attention.

  • Keep names, categories and core details consistent across branches, and let each branch show its own hours, phone number, photos and reviews.
  • Write location pages with genuinely local details: the address, nearby landmarks, parking, the services offered at that branch and the people who work there. Pages that only swap the city name can be treated by Google as doorway pages.
  • Report by branch, so you can see which locations need more reviews, better categories or stronger pages.

Businesses that cover several cities from one office should never create addresses where they have no premises. Use service areas on the profile and helpful city pages on the website instead.

Local search works a little differently in every industry. See how we handle it for real estate projects and sales offices, hospitals with several departments and branches, schools with more than one campus and interior design studios.

How local SEO services are priced

Local SEO cost in India depends mainly on how many locations you have, how competitive your category is in each city and how much work your profile and listings need at the start. A single clinic in a smaller city needs far less than a chain competing in several metros. The main factors are:

  • Locations: each branch needs its own profile, page, citations and reviews.
  • Competition: some categories in large cities have many active, well-reviewed competitors.
  • Starting point: duplicate listings, wrong addresses or a suspended profile take extra time to fix.
  • Content: how many location and service pages the website needs.

On timing, profile fixes can move rankings within weeks, while reviews, citations and pages build up over a few months. Every free audit from 93Digital ends with a fixed monthly quote, so you know the cost before you commit.

How to choose a local SEO company in India

Choose a local SEO company in India that can show you, before you pay, what is wrong with your profile and where you rank across your area. Then ask these questions:

  • Whose account will the profile be in? You should stay the owner, with the agency added as a manager.
  • How will you track rankings? One screenshot from one location is not tracking.
  • What will you report besides rankings? Calls, direction requests, website clicks and enquiries matter more.
  • How do you get reviews? Anything involving bought or incentivised reviews puts your profile at risk.

Red flags include promises of the number one spot in Maps, offers to add keywords to your business name and fake addresses in cities where you have no office.

A simple test: search for your main service from three different parts of your city and note where you appear. Our free audit does this across your whole area and shows the three fixes that will help most.

It depends on how many locations you have, how competitive your category is in each city and how much clean-up your profile and listings need. One branch in a smaller city needs far less work than a chain across several metros. Your free audit ends with a fixed monthly quote, so you know the cost before you start.

Profile fixes such as categories, services and accurate details can move Maps rankings within weeks. Reviews, citations and location pages usually build up over the following two to four months, depending on competition in your area.

No. Service-area businesses, such as home services or tutors who visit customers, can hide their address and list the areas they serve. You still need a real address for verification, and virtual offices or mailbox addresses are against Google's guidelines.
