Sound familiar?

What usually holds Performance ads back

No idea which ads bring leads

Clicks and impressions go up in the report, but nobody can say which calls, forms or WhatsApp chats came from which ad.

Budget spent on the wrong clicks

Loose keywords and no negative list mean you pay for people searching for jobs, free versions or things you don't sell.

Clicks that land on a weak page

Ads send people to a slow homepage with no clear offer, so most of them leave before they call or fill the form.

Most businesses need two or three of these to start. Your free audit shows where your budget will work hardest first.

  • Lead form, website and click-to-WhatsApp campaigns
  • Creative testing on hooks, formats and offers
  • Meta Pixel and Conversions API set up

YouTube ads

For products that need to be seen in action, or services that a short video explains better than text.

Guide

Performance marketing in India: a buyer's guide

What a performance marketing agency does

A performance marketing agency plans, runs and improves paid ads on Google, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube, and is judged on measurable results such as leads, sales and cost per lead. You pay the platforms for the ads. The agency’s job is to turn that spend into good enquiries and prove it with tracking.

Performance marketing overlaps with PPC services (pay-per-click advertising), and it also covers social, video and retargeting campaigns. A complete service usually includes:

  • Conversion tracking: recording calls, form fills and WhatsApp clicks in Google Analytics 4 and in each ad platform, so every lead traces back to its campaign.
  • Ads and creative: search ad copy, images, carousels and short videos made for each platform.
  • Landing pages: focused pages with one offer and one clear next step.
  • Ongoing optimisation: weekly changes to bids, budgets, keywords, audiences and creatives.

Your ad accounts, pixels and analytics should always be in your business’s name, with the agency added as a partner, so the data stays with you.

How performance marketing services are priced

Performance marketing in India has two separate costs: the ad spend you pay to Google or Meta, and the fee you pay an agency to manage it. Compare the two separately, because a low total can hide a small ad budget.

The ad budget you need depends on:

  • Competition: categories where many advertisers bid on the same searches and audiences cost more per click than niche ones.
  • Geography: one city needs less budget than a campaign across several states or all of India.
  • Your conversion rate: a page that turns more visitors into enquiries makes every rupee go further.

The management fee depends on the number of platforms, campaigns and landing pages, and how much new creative the plan needs each month. Some agencies charge a percentage of ad spend, which can reward spending more. A fixed monthly fee keeps advice about your budget independent. Check whether quotes include GST, which also applies to ad spend billed in India. Every 93Digital free audit ends with a fixed monthly quote, so you know the fee before you commit.

How to estimate leads from your ad budget

You can estimate leads from a budget with three numbers: your monthly budget, your average cost per click and your landing page conversion rate. Divide the budget by the cost per click to get clicks, then multiply the clicks by the conversion rate to get leads. Cost per lead is the budget divided by leads. The calculator on this page does the same sum.

The worked example below uses hypothetical numbers to show the method. It is not a benchmark or a forecast for your industry.

Example only: a ₹30,000 monthly budget at an average cost per click of ₹20 buys 1,500 clicks. If 5% of those visitors enquire, that is 75 leads at a cost per lead of ₹400.

Now change one number. If a better landing page lifts the conversion rate in this example from 5% to 8%, the same ₹30,000 brings 120 leads and the cost per lead falls to ₹250. Only the page changed.

You can also work backwards. In the same example, 100 leads at a 5% conversion rate needs 2,000 clicks, which at ₹20 a click needs a ₹40,000 budget. To find your own inputs:

  • Cost per click: use the bid estimates in Google’s Keyword Planner, or your own account history if you have run ads before.
  • Conversion rate: use your current website or past campaign data, and treat early numbers as a starting guess.
  • Lead to sale rate: multiply leads by the share your team closes, then compare the cost per customer with what a customer is worth to you.

Real campaigns move around these averages as competition, season and offers change. The estimate tells you whether a budget is realistic before you spend it.

To check the numbers on your own campaigns, use our free ROAS calculator for break-even ROAS and profit after ad spend, and the GST calculator to add GST to your ad budget. When you need one creative in every placement size, the ad creative resizer exports them all in one ZIP.

How long do Google Ads and Meta ads take to work?

Paid ads can bring the first enquiries within days of going live, and most campaigns need several weeks of data before costs settle. A typical timeline looks like this:

  1. Week 1: tracking is set up and tested, and campaigns and landing pages are built and approved.
  2. Weeks 2 to 4: ads go live. Search ads usually bring leads first because they reach people already searching. Meta and Performance Max campaigns spend this time learning which people respond.
  3. Months 2 to 3: wasted search terms are blocked, weak ads and audiences are switched off, and budget moves to what brings leads at the lowest cost.
  4. Month 3 onward: budget rises only on campaigns that hold their cost per lead as they grow.

Automated bidding on Google and Meta learns from the conversions you track. If tracking is broken or records the wrong action, the platforms optimise for the wrong thing. That is why we never start spend before tracking is tested.

Choose Google Ads when people already search for what you sell, and Meta ads on Facebook and Instagram when you need to reach people before they search. Many businesses use both.

  • Google Search ads catch existing demand, such as “dentist near me”, “packers and movers in Pune” or “CA for GST filing”.
  • Performance Max runs one campaign across Google’s channels, including Search, YouTube, Display, Gmail and Maps. It suits online stores with a product feed, and lead businesses with reliable conversion tracking.
  • Meta ads create demand. They suit visual products, courses, events, real estate projects and offers people rarely search for. A good Facebook ads agency tests many creatives, because on Meta the creative decides who stops scrolling.
  • YouTube ads show a product in action or explain something that needs more than a line of text.
  • Retargeting on Google and Meta brings back site visitors and video viewers who left without enquiring.

If your budget is small, start with the platform closest to the sale. For many service businesses that is Google Search. For many D2C brands it is Meta. Add the second platform once the first one has a steady cost per lead.

The right mix also depends on your industry. See how we plan ads for school admissions, interior designers and hospitals. Online stores usually pair Shopping ads with ecommerce SEO services.

How to choose a performance marketing agency in India

Choose a performance marketing agency, or a specialist Google Ads agency, on how it tracks leads and who owns your accounts. These questions will tell you more than a pitch deck:

  • Whose name are the ad accounts in? They should be yours, on your payment method, with the agency added as a partner.
  • What do you track before launch? A good answer names calls, forms and WhatsApp clicks, and explains how each will be tested.
  • What happens every week? Google Ads management services should include search term reviews, negative keywords, bid and budget changes and new ad tests. Meta management should include creative testing and lead quality checks.
  • How do you report? Look for leads and cost per lead by campaign. Impressions and clicks alone say little about sales.

Red flags: an agency that keeps your ad account in its own name, promises a fixed number of leads before seeing your data, reports only reach and clicks, or cannot explain what changed in your account last month.

A simple test: ask the agency to review your current ad account and name three specific fixes before you pay anything. Our free growth audit is built around exactly that.

The 80/20 of paid ads: a pre-launch checklist

A few basics decide whether paid ads make money, so check these before you raise any budget:

  1. Every call, form and WhatsApp click is tracked and has been tested with a real enquiry.
  2. Each campaign sends people to a page that matches the ad, with one offer and one call to action.
  3. The page loads fast on a mobile phone over a normal data connection.
  4. Search campaigns have a negative keyword list for jobs, free, DIY and other searches you cannot sell to.
  5. Someone on your team replies to new leads quickly during working hours.
  6. The ad accounts, pixel and analytics are in your business’s name.

Our campaigns start with this list. Tracking and landing pages come first, then budget, then scale.

A performance marketing agency plans and runs paid ads on platforms like Google, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube, and is judged on results such as leads, sales and cost per lead. You pay the platforms for the ads, and the agency's job is to turn that spend into as many good enquiries as possible. Tracking sits at the centre of the work, because results that are not measured cannot be improved.

You pay two costs: ad spend, which goes directly to Google or Meta, and a management fee to the agency. The fee depends on how many platforms, campaigns and landing pages you need and how much new creative the plan calls for. Your free audit ends with a fixed monthly quote, so you know the fee before you start.

Google and Meta let you set your own daily budget, so there is no large platform minimum. The useful minimum is the budget that buys enough clicks to show what works in your market. We work it out from your expected cost per click and conversion rate, using the same logic as the calculator on this page.

Search ads can bring enquiries within days of going live, because they reach people who are already searching. Most campaigns need a few weeks of data before costs settle, since automated bidding on both Google and Meta learns from conversions. Expect the first month to focus on learning and the next two on lowering cost per lead.

Google Search ads suit businesses people already search for, such as a dentist or a packers and movers service. Meta ads on Facebook and Instagram suit products and offers people discover, such as fashion, courses or a new real estate project. Many businesses run both, with Google catching existing demand and Meta creating new demand and retargeting visitors.

Keyword research, campaign setup, ad copy and assets, conversion tracking, landing pages and weekly optimisation of bids, budgets and search terms. The account stays in your name and on your payment method, with us added as a partner. You get a live dashboard and a monthly review call.

No. Lead volume depends on your market, offer, budget and how quickly your team follows up, and no platform guarantees results. We share an estimate based on your numbers before launch, then you see the real cost per lead in your dashboard.

Yes, apart from filming. We write the copy, design image creatives and write scripts, hooks and shot lists for video. You shoot the footage, often on a phone, and we edit it into ads for Instagram, Facebook and YouTube.
